Telecommunication Sector
Winslab has established alliances with leading manufacturers from which to select the most appropriate products. The main technologies offered are:
- High and medium Power Line Carrier Networks. This technology provides low and medium capacity circuits, is easy to install and low priced and is typically used for Electric Utility teleprotection signalling
- Radio Frequency Networks. From low capacity UHF / VHF band, to medium and high capacity links over microwave. In both cases, networks can be configured in point-to-point or point-to-multipoint topology
- Satellite networks. Applicable to remote and/or highly geographically distributed networks.
- Telecom Network Management System. Based on the Company's deep experience in SCADA Systems, Telecom Network Management System monitors telecom equipment alarms as well as external alarms from the local site environment
TETRANODE
TetraNode uses standard hardware and software components to create an economical and powerful professional mobile communications system. TetraNode’s flat network architecture based on nodes challenges the traditional hierarchical way of building networks. The principles of IP-networking are adopted in order to design flexible networks, which are scalable from single site right up to deployment on a nation-wide scale.
TetraNode applies the latest soft-switch technology together with the most open, reliable Real-Time Linux operating system to produce a TETRA system where all functionality is implemented in software, providing numerous benefits including increased flexibility, speed and integration of IP. The TetraNode Streaming Protocol (TNSP) has been developed to optimize IP for the transmission of voice and data between TetraNode eXchanges (TNXs) and TETRA Base Stations (TBSs) due to certain limitations of IP for mission-critical communications.
TetraNode is based on a minimum amount of standard PC and networking hardware, which makes it simple to install and maintain. It also has a simple architecture, which makes it intuitive to install and configure. Key hardware components such as TNX, TBS and the TetraNode Expansion Platform (TEP) are described briefly in this Introduction and in greater detail in Part V of the Product Manual.
TetraNode has a number of additional special features, which include:
• Its choice of open-source Linux, which is technically the most suitable operating system for the deployment of modern digital trunked radio systems
• The use of COTS (Commercial Off The Shelf) equipment, based on established industry standards
• Distributed databases, which speed up operation and reduce customer reliance on a single, centralized database
• Its Network Management Station (NMS), Line Dispatch Station (LDS), Voice-data Logging Server (VLS) and TetraNode IP Gateway (TIG) components, which extend the functionality of TetraNode to a level not witnessed before from a digital mobile radio solution
